What a workplace chaplain does, in plain terms.

Most employers have never seen this benefit up close, and there is a lot of confusion about what it involves. This page explains how it actually works, who it is for, and what it is not. No pitch.

Community Chaplain Network places a trained, credentialed chaplain on site at your workplace on a regular schedule. Employees can talk to them about anything, or nothing at all. Participation is voluntary, conversations are confidential, and management never receives names or content.

The work itself

Six things a chaplain actually does

Not a hotline, not a counselor, not a company pastor. A person who is present often enough that your people already know them when something goes wrong.

Walks the floor, on a schedule

Regular on-site rounds, so the face is familiar long before anyone needs it. This is the part that makes everything else work.

Listens, privately

One-on-one conversations, entirely voluntary and entirely confidential. No sign-up sheet, no referral needed, no record.

Shows up for the hard parts

Hospital rooms, hospice, funerals, new babies. On the clock or off it, for the employee and for their family.

Responds when something happens

An accident, a death, a layoff. Someone trained for that day arrives that day, instead of a number on a poster.

Backs up HR and supervisors

Managers end up doing pastoral care whether or not they were trained for it. The chaplain takes that weight off them.

Refers, rather than treats

Chaplains are not therapists and do not pretend to be. When something needs clinical care, they help the person get there.

Clearing the air

Completely voluntary for every employee, every time

Getting started

First conversation to first visit, about three weeks

Visit frequency, coverage, and a flat monthly number in writing.

Matched to your setting and shifts, and introduced before they start.

One flat monthly fee, sized to your team

What you pay depends on headcount, how often the chaplain visits, and how many sites and shifts need covering. There is no per-visit billing and no separate line item for a hard week.

A chaplain who lives where your people live

We do not scale through a call center. We recruit and train chaplains locally, through The Chaplains Guild, so the person walking your floor is from your area.
